Programs
This program is designed to instruct young people with the social graces needed for daily activities. The program provides the opportunity for discussion of the rules of etiquette in an age appropriate, fun and engaging manner! Access to these esteem building critical life skills help youth to successfully navigate social situations, enhance their communication skills and provide them with the tools to navigate daily social interactions with grace, poise, respect and integrity as they transition into adulthood.
Perfectly Polished
Prom night is one of the most exciting nights in high school. It’s the night you get to dress up like you’re walking the red carpet and dance the night away with friends. Usually you attend prom during your final years of high school, which can make the occasion bitter sweet because it means the end of an era and the hope for thrilling months (and years) to come. But in anticipation for all of the excitement, the last thing you want is to worry about what you’ll wear or how you’ll do your makeup. We have handled this for you! The Dream Prom Giveaway is done annually and high school students from Cedar Shoals and Clarke Central in Athens, Georgia are eligible. Contestants write an essay describing their dream prom and are chosen
by our staff to have their dreams come true!

Etiquette Classes
Designed to teach students the rules of basic etiquette and good manners, polish their social and communication skills, develop their confidence, prepare the to be tomorrow’s leaders. Children learn the basics of dining etiquette to incloude: rule of dining, tiers of polite conversation, extending and accepting an invitation, table settings, paying the bill, common mistakes at the table and
writing thank you notes.
Miss Essentially Elegant is an ambassador and representative for the organization and for her chosen platform. She is an attractive young woman with a confident, comfortable and commanding presence. She is an intelligent, talented individual who takes personal pride in her physical appearance and health. She is an articulate, independent, and eloquent communicator with the courage of her convictions. She is a proven achiever academically and in her personal life. She is a role model who inspires others and relates well to people of all ages. She is energetic, charismatic, compassionate and outgoing as well as cooperative, flexible and punctual. Miss Essentially Elegant is expected to perform a variety of duties to promote the organization and its programs and mission as well as her personal platform issue. She will make personal appearances when her schedule permits and
will be required to attend and participate in the
Miss Essentially Elegant pageant the following year.

Eveccio Ballard Legacy Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student as a graceful way to benefit the student and pay tribute to Shakira Lynn’s brother and his legacy. The scholarship recipient should have the desire, ability and determination to complete a post-secondary academic program and to achieve a successful career. The scholarship program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make
significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. The value of the scholarship will be based on the assets available.
This program works with youth in our communities to give them the tools to succeed in their educational career. We developed a curriculum to help improve students’ study skills as well as provide individualized academic instruction in reading, language arts, science, social studies and math. Our Urban Achievers are eligible to apply for SAT, ACT and college application fee waivers, scholarship assistance, college tours, and college admission application assistance. We also promote college readiness and will aid in the students’ transition from high school to post-secondary education.
